Genesys Symposium 2006 Recap and Highlights
A Message from the Chief Operating Officer, Ruth LadnerI am pleased to announce that Genesys Symposium 2006 was a great success. And on behalf of all of us here at Genesys, I would like to thank all of you who attended for your contributions and active participation in this event.
To recap, this year's Symposium theme "Putting Knowledge to Work" featured 18 educational sessions and focused on strategies, best practices, tools and processes to address today's HCM challenges. According to attendees, Symposium met their needs by providing high level, balanced programs and training on critical topics as well as a forum in which to learn from one another's valuable experiences.
The "Ask the Expert" sessions received critical acclaim by those attendees who took advantage of the opportunity to meet with our experts. Some even remarked that these sessions were the most beneficial part of Symposium because they provided a setting for them to have their unique questions answered in a private, face-to-face encounter with Genesys experts.
We are currently evaluating the format and venue for next year's event and encourage those of you who were not able to participate this year to strongly consider attending our 2007 event.
Again, our sincere thanks to all for making Symposium 2006 a tremendous event and our very best wishes for the New Year.
Ruth Ladner
Community Outreach Programs
Genesys strives to give back to the community in a variety of ways. This year during the 2006 holiday season, Genesys employees raised a large sum of money in only 3 days time upon hearing that the local Methuen YMCA was still desperately seeking donations for families in need. This contribution was matched dollar for dollar by the company allowing for a generous donation to be made to the Methuen YMCA during a critical time of giving to those less fortunate.
Back row, left to right: Melissa O'Brien, Senior Program Director, Methuen YMCA,
Paul Lambert and Barbara Robillard (both of Genesys)
Front row: Children of the Methuen YMCA, eagerly awaiting Santa's visit!Genesys has also become a corporate sponsor for a group called NAMI. NAMI stands for National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, a "grass roots" organization with chapters in every state.
NAMI's primary goals are: to stamp out the stigma of mental illness through educational programs and to advocate for legislation that would benefit the mentally ill.
One of the most important ways that NAMI raises funds to support their programs is through "NAMI WALKS". Priscilla DiLuzio, VP of Outsourcing Services will be leading a team of individuals including Genesys and non-Genesys employees for the third year on May 19, 2007. If you are interested in joining our team "All Minds Matter," please contact Priscilla directly via email at pdiluzio@genesyshcm.com.
Heroic HR?
Genesys is pleased to announce that in January 2007, Marc S. Miller, a nationally respected authority on Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and President of Marc S. Miller Associates, a consulting firm specializing in strategic utilization of HRIS and in the techniques for the cost justification, evaluation, selection, development, and business process improvement via HRIS implementation, will present a Webinar entitled "Heroic HR" as part of the Genesys HCM Webinar Series. What follows are brief excerpts from his work entitled "Heroic HR"…Is That Possible, as published in IHRIM.link.
Much has been written about HR's mandate to become a strategic partner within its own organization. Proponents of change . . . have championed this needed transformation for the function of Human Resources. For this transformation not to happen creates negative credibility and could lead to the disintermediation of HR, i.e., losing what status it may have via circumvention of services through the use of external resources.
Therefore, the need to move from a frequently perceived backroom, transaction-driven, often bureaucratic, rules-oriented function to one that provides strategic value-added information (not just data) remains critical.
This change can only come about by HR's continuing involvement in an organization's e-business strategy and with the utilization of new service delivery models made feasible by new technological tools provided by myriad vendors. . .
HEROIC HR - WHAT IS IT?
For starters, let's define the term "hero" - a "hero" provides the right action at the right time at the right place, usually producing an extraordinary result!
As a hero, HR can manifest itself by showing results that catch the eye of the board of executives. These cost savings can and will result from the institution of the new service delivery model, especially from employee and manager self-service. The average cost reductions found in various industry segments attributed to employee self-directed workflow and self-service is in the range of 20-35 percent return on investment (ROI) (Gartner Group).
Join Marc Miller and Genesys on January 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. ET to learn more specifics on how to strategically transform your HR organization and how to become a "hero."
