Genesys, of Methuen, Mass., Celebrates 20th Anniversary

HR and Payroll Technology Expert Recognizes Employees and Gives Back to Community

METHUEN, Mass. — July 30, 2001 —Genesys, the Methuen, Mass.-based provider of software and outsourcing services for human-resource (HR) management, payroll, and benefits, celebrated its 20th anniversary at the end of July. Founded in 1981 with 15 employees as a spin-off of Wang Laboratories, Genesys has been a leader in automating HR and payroll for two decades and now employs 150 staff members at offices throughout North America.

"It is Genesys' outstanding team of employees that has enabled us to achieve our track record of success over the last twenty years," said Larry Munini, founder and president of Genesys. "We wanted to recognize their accomplishments in living up to our company's six official core values: customer orientation, integrity, excellence, teamwork, communication, and entrepreneurship."

Giving Back to the Community

Genesys devised a unique way to recognize its employees while at the same time giving back to the community that has been its home since the company's founding. At the 20th-anniversary celebration, every employee received a certificate of thanks, which each in turn will present to a coworker as a way of saying thanks for being a great colleague. The certificate includes a checklist of attributes that reflect the company's core values, such as "You always put the customer first," "You are a team player," and "You have a great attitude." The certificates are redeemable for a $10 company contribution to a local charity. The plan was inspired by the movie "Pay It Forward," based on a book by Catherine Ryan Hyde about the power of premeditated acts of kindness.

The charities were chosen for their contributions to the surrounding community. They are:

• Lazarus House, Lawrence, Mass., which provides food and shelter to the homeless and needy



• Lowell Adult Literacy Program, Lowell, Mass., which assists adults in achieving GED, ESL and similar measures of literacy and is the largest program of its kind in Massachusetts



• CASA of the Lower Merrimack Valley, the local chapter of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, which supports neglected and abused children

Employees who wish to thank more than one coworker may purchase additional certificates for $2.00 each. All proceeds will go to the charities.
