Lands' End Chooses PeopleComeFirst to Manage Learning, Learning Content, and Development

Billion-and-a-half-dollar direct merchant will use Web-based learning-management system from Genesys to train and develop employees

METHUEN, Mass.—January 22, 2002—Genesys, the Methuen, Mass.-based provider of software and outsourcing services for learning management, human-resource (HR) management, payroll, and benefits, announced today that Lands' End has selected the PeopleComeFirst learning solution to manage the learning process for its employees. PeopleComeFirst includes fully integrated Web-based systems for managing learning, learning content, and skills development.

PeopleComeFirst at Lands' End

All Lands' End employees will benefit from PeopleComeFirst's career self-service capabilities, which enable them to manage their own career development plans: in addition to reviewing and working on skills required in their current positions, they can also target skills associated with desired future positions, thereby working towards promotion.

"We are honored that Lands' End has selected PeopleComeFirst to manage the learning programs that are essential to its continued success," said Larry Munini, president of Genesys. "We're confident that we can help them achieve their employee development goals."

"Lands' End has a long history of investing in its employees, and we encourage our staff to constantly develop and acquire additional skills," said Tom Gloudeman, director of recruitment and development for Lands' End. "PeopleComeFirst will help speed along the skills development process by affording us the opportunity to offer more targeted learning products and by helping us stay on top of development through enhanced tracking abilities."

PeopleComeFirst Is a Good Fit for Lands' End

Integration is an important facet of the Lands' End learning strategy. PeopleComeFirst will integrate with Lands' End's third-party content providers, and Lands' End's own corporate library of books, videotapes, and other media will be categorized through the system.

PeopleComeFirst is available as an in-house implementation or as a hosted solution. Lands' End has chosen the hosted solution, so employees-up to 8,000 when the system rolls out companywide over the next couple of months-will access PeopleComeFirst over the Web from their Windows 2000-based desktop computers.

"Lands' End is known for innovation and leveraging advanced technology as well as for being an outstanding employer," said Munini. "Their innovation has resulted in landsend.com becoming the world's largest-volume apparel Web site, and the company's being awarded Fortune's '100 Best Companies to Work For' several times."

"We will use PeopleComeFirst to design and track individual training programs based on areas of development," said Gloudeman. "PeopleComeFirst's developmental-planning capabilities leverage competency models at the position level, so we can focus education and training to acquire skills more quickly. This results in more capable employees and, ultimately, helps us achieve our business goals."
