Genesys Sponsors Competency Seminar for New England Chapter of IHRIM

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Competency Initiative to Highlight Agenda

METHUEN, MA — March 6, 2003 — Genesys, a provider of software and outsourcing services for learning management, human resource (HR) management, payroll, and benefits, will host the quarterly meeting of the New England chapter of IHRIM, the International Association for Human Resource Information Management. The meeting, which is open to IHRIM members and non-members, will be held from 8:30 to noon on Thursday, March 20, at Genesys headquarters in Methuen, MA.

Robert Knaggs, a business consultant for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, will headline the agenda with a discussion of the organization's highly successful competency initiative for its 850-employee IT department. The CAreer REnaissance program (CARE) was begun in November 2000 to modernize the IT jobs structure and to provide clearly defined technical, interpersonal, leadership and business skill expectations for current and future career opportunities within Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

"Competency management is fundamental to sound business," said Knaggs, a certified senior professional in human resources who served as project leader for CARE. "It creates a foundation for competitive and equitable compensation, links training and learning resources to relevant employee and organizational needs, and directly ties corporate business goals to employee skills. As an added, benefit competency management promotes increased employee satisfaction and retention."

Also on the agenda are: Margaret Cisario of Interpersonal Technology Group, a New York-based company specializing in the creation of competency management models for the enterprise, and Mike Parent of Genesys, the developer of PeopleComeFirst Learning, a competency and learning management system.

"Because of our company's focus on human resource management, we've been a long-time supporter of IHRIM," said Ruth Ladner, chief operating officer of Genesys. "Competency management is fundamental to the effective development and management of a company's human assets. We're confident IHRIM members will find the information presented at this seminar to be very timely."

The cost of the seminar is $55 to IHRIM members, $85 to non-members, and $25 to students. Attendees can pay prior to the meeting or register online at www.ihrim-ne.org. Registration and continental breakfast are from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. on March 20. The seminar program begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at noon. Genesys headquarters are located at 5 Branch Street in Methuen (near I-93). For more information, contact Monica Wezwich at monica_m_wezwick@raytheon.com.
